People and Culture Award winner

We are proud to share that SY Homes won the People and Culture Award at the prestigious Constructing Excellence West Midlands Awards on 1st May.

For the team to receive this recognition is exceptional - not least considering we are currently employing our largest workforce-to-date to construct our most ambitious project-to-date, Old Coleham Court.

At the heart of our success is our leadership team - Wayne Sidell, Tom Savage and Rhys Thomas.  Their hands-on approach and visibility across all levels of the business encourage open communication and mutual respect.

The win was truly secured by our 70-strong workforce of skilled tradespeople and service providers who join us on site throughout the project.  Their hard work and dedication, expertise and passion, humour and sagacity, make our site a truly special place to work, and we are incredibly proud to have them as part of our team.

Creating a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace where every team member is valued and supported has always been our goal.  And personal well-being is a cornerstone of our workplace culture.  From safe facilities and a warm bait room (well-stocked with fruit and donuts!) to career development and support for mental health, we ensure that our crews are equipped to do their best work.

It was fitting that new charity Mindflow who champion mental health in construction attended the awards last night.  SY Homes are in full support of the charity’s missions to foster a culture within the construction industry where mental health is openly discussed, understood, and prioritised, and to shape a construction industry where mental health is as fundamental as physical safety. 

SY Homes was also shortlisted for the Integration and Collaboration Award, Innovation Award and SME of the Year Award, showcasing the breadth our skills and our position as a leading construction business in the West Midlands.
