Our roof terrace garden wins Gold at the Shrewsbury Flower Show

We took gardening to a whole new level at the Shrewsbury Flower Show with a to-scale-replica of a roof terrace from our new development, Old Coleham Court.

Filled with plants and furnishings, our replica ‘roof terrace’ showed how a limited space can become a relaxing outdoor room that is an extension of your home, with plenty of opportunity for those with green fingers.

Each roof terrace at Old Coleham Court will be 1.7m deep with a low-level wall topped by a glass balustrade.  This ensures those amazing views over Shrewsbury are uninterrupted even when sitting on the terrace.

Every terrace on OId Coleham Court is unique in length, with some wrapping around the corner of the building for double the impact.  Our replica was just 4m wide, shorter than all the real terraces, and yet included two seating areas and over 30 plants.

At the Flower Show we met many Shrewsbury locals interested in how the building is developing after months of watching the crane circle over Coleham.  The wonderful location with independent coffee shops, riverside pubs and convenient access into Town is fully appreciated by those who know the area.

Visitors from further afield were drawn to the amazing views over the river Severn, the spires and roof tops of Shrewsbury, and the hills beyond.

We also had the opportunity to meet our new MP for Shrewsbury, Julia Buckley and her Mom, as well as BBC Gardening presenter Sue Kent who was one of the judging team.

It was wonderful reward to receive a GOLD certificate from the judges.  Drawn to the considered mix of plants and inspired by the furnishings, the judges gave special mention to the construction of the stand and its creativity.  Thank you to our local collaborators, Dutch Living on Castle Street and The Garden Room on Princess Street, for the fantastic advice on suitable plants, flowers, pots and furniture.

And Thank You to our construction team for building such a solid base for us to work from.
